Despite the best efforts of most matrimonial lawyers over many years to try make divorce less confrontational and more cooperative there still remains a misconception that we engage in “fights” where the winner takes it all.
The majority of divorce lawyers are now members of a voluntary organisation called Resolution which seeks wherever possible to de-stress the divorce process.
So the old idea of “my wife is going to take me to the cleaners“ just isn’t the case anymore.
Although, I guess “my wife is going to engage me in meaningful but fair negotiations on a nonconfrontational basis“ just doesn’t have the same ring to it!
